Shaman's Eyes-
"The deified earth "
(2019-)
The inspiration for this project stems from my personal life experiences. As a child, I was raised not by my parents, but by my grandmother. She was a Tatar shaman, so I spent my childhood living in Siberia with my grandparents. In the shamanic culture of Siberian nomads, natural phenomena are often symbolized in language. The original ancestors are known as the "Grandfather of Fire," "Grandmother of Growth," "Father of the Sun," and "Mother of the Earth." This process of deifying and personifying nature is expressed through song, poetry, storytelling, sculpture, and painting.
The term "deity" refers to "the nature of being divine." The religious scholar Mircea Eliade (1907-1986) suggested that "the aspect of mankind's first 'mythical act' reflects a strong desire to grasp essential reality." Any religion or culture contains a deeply rooted concept akin to the primitive belief in "earth worship."
